About Touch
At first I fell in love with his hands. A hand talks so much about a person! He had nice, fine fingers, his whole hand was so strong, so masculine but it had some kind of a noble, aristocratic quality at the same time. I asked him to write me some lines, it doesn’t matter what I just wanted to see him writing. He enchanted me. I can still recall his hand as it was holding the pen, his look as he was staring at the piece of paper. No, it wasn’t the writer but the woman who got lost in that very moment. My consciousness hasn’t realized what’s about to happen, but the inner voice of a woman already knew that I’m longing for the touch of those hands…
Our palms met, our fingers stuck together and they gently interwove. We were discovering each other. He stroked my fingers one-by-one and I carefully and invisibly bit my lips in order to hide that I was trembling from his touch. Then only with one of his fingers he stroked the line of my face, my eyebrow, the line of my nose and carefully, almost shyly stroked my lips. I held my breath back and focused my attention to how energy waves through my skin following his finger and the pulse of life almost burst out from my chest.
A touch has some kind of a magic, energy which wonders from a person to another person through their skin and it dives to the soul. We feel as if all noise disappeared from the world, everything becomes quiet, not even a heartbeat can be heard. Everything is clear and bright. However, you’re cold and hot at the same time, your whole body gets goose bumps and you can’t perceive what happens exactly, maybe only one thing is for sure that there is peace out in the world. Then hesitation disappears from the touch and slowly power takes its place. It hides in the arms of a man, radiates safety and warmth, the feeling that we can trust ourselves on him, but he doesn’t take away our freedom. The touch is already free, firm, gentle and full of life and love. It radiates honest attention, it serves as a remedy for the soul, gives happiness and takes us a bit closer to ourselves. This pure physical happiness comes from the heart and at the same time it signifies something beyond itself, the happiness of the soul.
The experience is soft, nice and gives the feeling of satisfaction to the moment. At the same time adoration, yearning, calmness and fulfillment pulses in our veins and in the ecstasy of the experience there is still desire, and excitement of passion and the happiness of being together. Touch opens up our boundaries and we can let ourselves into something we can’t control. And only then, in this very moment does the possibility of evoking our feelings, our inner selves become available and we can share our beauty with the other.
The power and magic of touch fascinates me and makes me uneasy because I offer the deepest secret of my soul as an eternal gift for the one I love. And I’m happy that the wonder of existence burns this touch into my body, as well as into my soul. That’s why if I want to make memories reality the sole thing I have to do is to close my eyes, open my palm and I can feel your kiss rest in my hand...

When All Seems Lost — and Even When It Doesn’t…

When All Seems Lost — and Even When It Doesn’t… As a writer, I read more than average. Not necessarily books that fall within my immediate interests, but rather those I can learn from, marvel at, analyze word by word, and sometimes even those that demand more effort from me than usual. That is how it is with Alice Munro. I bought my first book by her when she received the Nobel Prize. Then life happened, and the volume sat on my bookshelf—either I had no time for it, or it lingered somewhere at the bottom of my list of priorities. When I finally picked it up, I could hardly believe my eyes—or my reaction. First, I was utterly outraged; my blood pressure shot through the roof in an instant, and I almost started swearing in disbelief. I had barely skimmed the first few lines, yet that was enough to know: it was perfect. A true masterpiece. Excellence among the excellent. Every word reached the deepest layers of my soul. I was touched by its purity, its delicacy, the noblest simpli...

Evening thought

Now and then journalists in search of copy ask me what is the most thrilling moment of my life. If I were not ashamed to, I might answer that it is the moment when I began to read Goethe’s Faust. I have never quite lost this feeling, and even now the first pages of a book sometimes send the blood racing through my veins. To me reading is a rest as to other people conversation or a game of cards. It is more than that; it is a necessity, and if I am deprived of it for a little while I find myself as irritable as the addict deprived of his drug. I would sooner read a time-table or a catalogue than nothing at all. That is putting it too low. I have spent many delightful hours poring over the price-list of the Army and Navy Stores, the lists of second-hand took-sellers and the A.B.C. All these are redolent of romance. They are much more entertaining than half the novels that are written. /W.S.Maugham/
